Job Description

THOR Solutions is seeking an experienced, mission-focused professional to support the Surface Warfare Engineering Schools Command (SWESC) as an Engineman Contractor Instructor. This position supports SWESC providing operation, curriculum support (includes updates and maintenance of curriculum), administration, safety, and management support services for formalized naval training.
The Engineman supports technical and military training for enlisted personnel of the U.S. and allied navies temporarily assigned to Naval Station Great Lakes for training. Accomplishes upgrades and improvements as needed. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to, the following:
Prepare classrooms / workstations / labs prior to commencing instruction to include equipment set-up and availability of all required instructional material.
Perform operational checks of all classroom / workstations / lab training equipment, devices, and aids.
Note deficiencies / discrepancies in training equipment, devices and instructional aids including preventative and corrective maintenance deficiencies and submit written recommendations to the TA and the COR.
Maintain an adequate inventory of written instructional materials and student forms required by a particular classroom / seats / lab.
Report in writing any material discrepancies or items that prevent teaching any section of the course via SWSC / PMS 339 / SLC Formal Course Review.
Open and secure training spaces and/or buildings at the end of the day, as applicable.
Utilize Automated Electronic Classrooms (AECs), Personal Data Assistants (PDAs), Laptops, Presentation Technology Classrooms (PTCs), and / or Learning Resource Center (LRCs) to deliver course / content under this contract, as applicable and described in the course requirements.
Teach, test, or remediate in applicable courses using the AEC or PTC, as required.
Be familiar with applicable Navy rules, regulations, course curriculum, TTE, Technical Training Devices, including, Electronic Podiums, AECs, PTCs, Video Teaching and Teleconference (VTT) Instructor podium and equipment as applicable. Monitor and notify the Training Site Director of any unsafe conditions, equipment material condition issues, missing equipment, and any other problems that may degrade the course of instruction.
Lead a classroom of students in a group-paced format using official curricula, to include but not limited to an Instructor Guide, Student Guide, and technical manuals (TMs).
Security Clearance Requirements:
This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate will:
Already possess an active or interim Secret (or above) clearance (preferred);
OR, be able to qualify for a new Secret clearance upon hire.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
High school diploma/GED equivalent or relevant military "A" or "C" school.
Be a graduate of the Navy Instructor Training Course (CIN: A-012-0077) (NEC 9502) OR equivalent instructor training course;
At least three (3) years technical experience in the subject matter hired to instruct.
This experience must include at least two (2) years of experience in a Military Training Environment.
Have knowledge of learning principles, practices, and methods of presentation and delivery of course content, testing and remediation procedures, curriculum, training aids, devices, electronic podiums, TTE, lab equipment, equipment operation and maintenance procedures associated with the course.
Must be a former Senior (E5 - E9) Enginemen/Machinist Mate Diesel main (propulsion background) and possess one of the following sets of qualifications:
Tier I (Master Level): An Engineman AND a graduate of the following courses;
LST 41/49 ColtPielstick Maintainer, (A-652-0323)
Diesel Engine C School Module 5 (LPD C/P), (A-651-9001)
USCG ALCO 251C, (A-651-3030)
USCG FBM, (A-651-3031)
Fairbanks Morse Diesel
38ND 8-1/8, (A-652-0450)
OR, Tier II (Journeyman Level): An Engineman AND a graduate a of at least one (1) of the following courses;
LST 41/49 Colt-Pielstick Maintainer, (A-652-0323)
Diesel Engine C School Module 5 (LPD C/P), (A-651-9001)
USCG ALCO 251C, (A-651-3030), USCG FBM, (A-651-3031)
Fairbanks Morse Diesel 38ND 8-1/8, (A-652-0450)
Have comprehensive knowledge in the area of safety, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of the Air Cooled Frequency Converter, course/systems listed above.
Typical Physical Activity:
