The Reconciliation Specialist I is responsible for reconciling and maintaining various general ledger accounts (GL) and ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of transactions processed. Conducts research on discrepancies and works with vendors and business line partners to make appropriate corrections or adjustments. Responsible for in-depth knowledge of various operational systems and processes including but not limited to: Branch and ATM Cash, Virtual Vaults, Retail Safe Vaults, Deposit accounts, ACH, ATMs, Debit Cards and the Federal Reserve Bank System.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Ensures various general ledger and internal accounts are balanced and cleared daily and resolves any problems. Maintains documentation for reconciling items.
Works with various vendors and departments, including the Federal Reserve Bank, Armored Car Services etc. in researching outstanding issues and ensures bank records are accurate and customer accounts are properly affected. Provides information to Corporate Accounting Department and Internal Audit Department. 
Prepares and develops reports for management and/or for regulatory authorities. Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and issues.
Ensures procedures are kept updated and revised as necessary.
Monitors Service Level Agreements in various contracts to ensure standards are at an acceptable level.
Maintains a thorough knowledge of First Mid internal systems, system reports and transaction adjustments. Looks for and implements changes to procedures that increase efficiency of the processes and reduces risk.
Develops and maintains automation for transaction posting. This may include working with vendors to build interfaces and/or changing current systems to create efficiencies. 
Develops Business Analytics reports for identifying items that need to be maintained. 
Works closely Operations Department Officers to ensure all reconciliations are completed and items cleared in a timely basis. 
Cross-sell bank products and services in a professional manner.
Completes required training associated with job function
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree with an emphasis accounting or related field

Experience:
Accounting experience required
Banking experience preferred

Skills:
High level of computer skills, including Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical skills for researching system issues and financial outages.
High level of independent problem solving skills. 
Thorough knowledge of electronic services programs, products and computer applications. Strong organizational, communication and management skills.
Solid understanding of financial institution policies and procedures.
High level of interpersonal skills to interact with customers in a professional manner.
Adequate knowledge of both internal policies and procedures and the respective state and federal laws and regulations governing departmental functions to ensure performance of individual job duties within the proper control environment.
