UIC is seeking a Housing Wireless Engineer to join our Wireless Technology Solutions team. This role will work under the direction of our Lead Wireless Engineer, the position of Housing Wireless Engineer will encompass the implementation and support of UIC's Wireless network. The candidate will have strong knowledge of TCP/IP, and demonstrate experience in assisting with implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Cisco wireless controllers, access points, and switches in an enterprise-wide environment. Successful candidates will have an understanding of a campus wireless environment and have the ability to perform remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions in a University environment. Candidate will have strong customer services skills to conduct Tier 1/Tier 2 client support and assist in user documentation for training.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist Campus Housing with troubleshooting, maintaining, and monitoring Campus Resident networking issues. Evaluate and monitor various network monitoring tools and trouble tickets specific to the Campus Housing Residence.
Work with Senior and Lead Wireless Engineers on installation, configuration, and deployment of wireless access points, switches, and controllers.
Work with wireless team on surveying new locations on campus and recommending equipment to fit client business needs.
Work with network core team on installation, configuration, and deployment of switches, routers, and firewalls.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Bachelor Degree within Computer Science or closely related field of study
Minimum of 1 year of professional IT experience within Infrastructure & Networking Engineering which includes demonstrated experience in planning, building/implementation of communication Networks (LAN/WAN/VPN) that support high performance voice, data, video and wireless network servicesPreferred Qualifications:

Knowledge in basic TCP/IP, VLAN programming and diagnosis, switch management with emphasis on Wireless Access Points and Controllers.
Knowledge of advanced network routing (including TCP/IP, UDP/BGP), VLANs, VPNs, Trunking
Knowledge of configuration of wireless networks 802.11g/n/ac; controllers and management tools.
Good written and verbal communication skills. Proficient MS-Office usage, calendaring, and web-based tools.
Complete understanding of Request Tracking ticketing system.
