Foth Infrastructure & Environment, LLC is currently seeking a team-focused, innovative, and results-oriented Project Sediment Engineer who is pursuing new learning experiences and career growth opportunities. This position can be fully remote or performed out of a local Foth office.
What types of exciting challenges is Foth involved in?
Primary Responsibilities:
Prepare design calculations, alternative analyses, specifications, drawings, and other technical work products as required including using CAD principles
Plan and oversee key elements of Predesign investigation (PDI), Basis of Design Report (BODR), remedial design work plan (RDWP), 30/60/90 final design
Perform bank stability and erosion protection calculations, evaluation of river banks adjacent to dredging and capping areas, sediment capping design and dredge prism design for complex sediment remediation projects, including work scope and cost estimating of remedial alternatives
Execute field projects, perform field testing and logging, interpret and conduct field tests, and collect soil and sediment samples using vibrocore-geoprobe-split barrel-piston-shelby tube techniques
Review field soil and sediment samples, selection of samples for geotechnical laboratory tests, selection of tests for physical parameterization and analytical modeling purposes
Perform geotechnical calculations, analysis, modeling, or interpretation to support sediment and soil project design
Perform construction management or construction observation at select sediment management project sites under the guidance of a Senior Foth Construction Manager
Maintain positive relationships and knowledge of existing and proposed regulations related to sediment management with approval authorities, industry organizations and internal and external customers
Assist business development efforts by supporting proposal preparation and cultivating client relationships for both existing and potential clientsRequired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering or related engineering degree
7+ years of experience in contaminated sediment management projects including feasibility studies, alternative evaluations and design
Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within 12 months
Ability to travel 25% of the time
Knowledge of Civil 3D CAD principles used in the design of contaminated sediment remediation, navigational dredging, or geotechnical engineering solutions
Previous experience preparing detailed engineering plans and specifications including capping solutions and dredge prisms for contaminated sediment sites
Previous experience performing sediment remedial action alternatives analysis, including scoping and cost estimating
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering
5+ years of experience with an engineering consulting firm
Previous experience with integrating complex science and engineering on sediment management projects
Proven record of establishing positive working relationships with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders
