We have an exciting opportunity for aBenefits Specialist at UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement based in our Evanston, IL office. The Benefits Specialist will be responsible for the company’s employee benefits program including the development, implementation, and delivery of benefits administration and wellness programming. The Benefits Specialist will be the first point of contact for employee’ benefits inquiries and will promptly respond to ensure a positive employee experience. The role will ensure benefits compliance with all legal requirements of various employee benefits programs and oversee the development and operation of benefits information systems.

What you’ll learn & achieve:

As the Benefits Specialist you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you:

+ Lead the implementation and delivery of benefits and wellness functions including benefits administration, open enrollment, and wellness programs.

+ Maintain information in the benefits HR systems to ensure data integrity and compliance, conduct audits and make associated corrections as appropriate. Prepare and distribute standard and ad-hoc benefits reports.

+ Serve as a first point of contact for employee benefits questions, receive and respond to internal and external benefits related inquiries in a timely manner, escalate to the right contact(s), and follow up as appropriate.

+ Responsible for the benefits administration process by serving as the primary point of contact for general benefits inquiries, and other activities, as necessary.

+ Work as a liaison with benefits providers to resolve benefit issues.

+ Maintain benefit specific information within HRIS/Benefits Administration system and oversee employee benefit enrollments.

+ Coordinate employee benefits and wellness events including communications, vendor management and planning.

+ Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations related to employee benefits, including FMLA, ADA, ERISA, ACA, COBRA, and HIPAA.

+ Perform other duties as directed.

+ Knowledge of benefits administration including administration of leaves of absence, and wellness programming and compliance including FMLA, ADA, ERISA, ACA, COBRA, and HIPAA.

+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate benefit program information to employees and provide education and counseling on benefit options.

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct data analysis and reporting to support benefit decision-making. Proficiency in data analysis tools, such as Excel.

+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team, highly organized, and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently and effectively.

+ Makes sound decisions by gathering information, analyzing data, and using experience and judgment.

+ Maintain a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity.

Experience and Education Requirements

+ Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent work experience

+ Minimum 4 years’ experience in benefits administration.

+ Experience with Workday preferred.
