PLACEMENT: Placement on the salary schedule is dependent on qualifications.
MINIMUM PAY RATE:Qualifications include education and related work experience.

POSITION SUMMARY
Adapt to new and changing situations and demonstrate a positive attitude. Fifteen credit hours a semester constitute a normal load. Position is subject to all terms and provisions of the Joliet Junior College faculty contract. Course assignments may be late afternoon, evening, Saturday, and at branch campuses or satellite centers.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.In consultation with program director, develop and update curriculum, lecture materials, course resources evaluation methods for Health Information Management (HIM) courses.
2.Assist in ensuring curriculum competencies and knowledge clusters for the program meet or exceed certification standards from AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association).
3.Per CAHIIM accreditation standards, assist in annual assessment of curriculum to determine areas identified as needing improvement(s), including formal feedback from students, faculty, graduates, advisory committee, and employers.
4.Help develop, facilitate and update program goals, measured outcomes, required reports, site visits and other required activities to support continued CAHIIM accreditation status.
5.Assist program director in securing externship sites and designing/supervising professional practice experiences (PPE).
6.Work with marketing staff to develop updated program materials and participate in program recruiting activities.
7.Teach scheduled classes and perform related duties in a timely manner.
8.Participate in departmental meetings and activities.
9.Maintain current knowledge of HIM through attendance at relevant educational/professional development seminars and other professional development opportunities.
10.Assist the HIMT Program Director in organizing HIMT Advisory Board meetings and compiling information gained from these meetings to assess community and employer needs.
11.Perform or assist in other relevant duties as assigned by the HPS Department Chairperson including college committees, activities, reports and reviews.
12.Help establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management or related field
2.AHIMA credentials (RHIA or RHIT).
3.Five years of experience in HIM profession.
4.Two years of experience in HIM supervisory role(s).
5.Teaching experience at the collegiate level
