Job Description
TEKsystems is looking for a Security Engineer with M365 and Windows/Linux server experience to join our team.
Description:
Assess the security posture of our systems, applications, and infrastructure and design and implement strategies for asset hardening (baseline security configurations). Identify misconfigurations, and weaknesses in systems and apply appropriate security controls and countermeasures to mitigate risks.
Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and application developers to engineer and harden assets at all layers, including operating systems, cloud platforms, databases, and network devices. Engineer and maintain security controls within the Microsoft 365 environment, including Azure Active Directory, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Intune and Teams. Configure and enforce security policies, data loss prevention (DLP) measures, and threat protection mechanisms to safeguard our assets. Stay informed about emerging security technologies and trends and provide recommendations for their adoption.

Experience Required
5 years of experience as a Security Engineer or in a similar role, with experience in asset hardening and Microsoft 365 security.
Scripting/automation experience such as Python and PowerShell
Ability to work both independently and with a team while managing workload with minimal supervision.
Strong knowledge of servers, networking, cloud technologies, and related security considerations.
Familiarity with security principles, frameworks, and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, CIS)
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex technical issues.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to travel and collaborate in the downtown Chicago office two days a week.
