Job Description

What you will be doing:

The Print Press Operator is responsible for running printing presses efficiently and safely. The Print Press Operator is responsible for the overall quality of sheets printed.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work under direct supervision of the Packaging Lead and Packaging Business Unit Manager and work directly with the entire packaging team.
  • Responsible for overall quality of printed sheets. Printer Operator selects random sheets from each load and checks that they have appropriate color, register, type and are void of unnecessary markings.
  • Work with QC to ensure good product when needed.
  • Follow customer’s artwork and measurements.
  • When problems are encountered, Printer Operator is to determine cause and adjust press to correct error.
  • Printer Operator is responsible for removing printer reels and moving them to baggers.
  • Must maintain written records of production and quality. Records include production time, amount produced, time wasted on corrections and waiting for materials and number of defective materials. Records of color quality are also recorded and graphed.
  • Responsible for performing duties when needed to keep press running.
  • Responsible for press make-ready (adjust press to accommodate for new printing job to be done). (Refer to manual on quick change over procedure).
  • Assist with monthly cleaning of press. Press is thoroughly cleaned, oiled, and greased. Rollers are changed if necessary.
  • Manage daily cleanliness of printer and surrounding area.
  • Ensure all operators around printer are working safely and help manage any issues with maintenance issues that arise (i.e., troubleshooting issues or getting assistance to ensure downtime is minimal). 
  • Continuously model AFC's Core Values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of Flexo press experience.
  • Printer Operators’ vision must be acute at short distances (20 inches or less) to inspect for quality of printing sheets. Color vision is required to detect variances in color of product.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual.
  • Ability to read and understand a tape measurer and/or ruler and demonstrate the ability to be accurate in these measurements.
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently.
  • Ability to lift 40lbs and up to 100lbs with assistance.
  • Must be available to train on first shift.


 

Pay: $22.00+ per hour (commensurate with experience) + $2.50 second shift differential

Schedule: Monday-Friday 1:00 pm-9:30 pm
