Actalent is hiring for a research and development chemist in the Elk Grove Village, IL area. This is a great opportunity to work in research and development with a major company.
Description:
Key Responsibilities:
• Works as part of a cross-functional team to develop innovative ink jet ink formulations.
• Independently validates designs for shelf stability, application testing, and properties analyses.
• Reports regularly to the project lead and wider team on project activities.
• Proactively suggests technical ideas for the optimization of ink formulations.
• Supports qualification of new inks in printer platforms.
• Results oriented – is willing to work in the lab more than 80% of the time.
• Contributes significantly to formulation design ideas.
• Participates in defining technical concepts and in planning own validation tests.
• Produces peer reviewed project related documentation.
• Learns printing technologies and provides technical leadership to colleagues with less experience.
• Ensures that assigned phase of a project is successfully completed on time.
Skills & Qualifications:
• B.S. degree in chemistry, material science, or closely related field.
• An advanced technical degree is preferred.
Prior Experiences:
• 3-5+ years of hands-on industrial experience in inks, paints/ coatings, adhesives or other chemical formulations.
• Proven ability to work with complex machines and/ or industrial equipment.
• An understanding of ink jet printers and their interactions with inks is highly preferred.
• Previously demonstrated success in product development and innovation.
