GENERAL SUMMARY OF THE JOB – HEADER TECHNICIAN This position requires the ability to perform set-ups on multiple types of multi-die heading equipment within a machine group of family; as well as the responsibility to oversee/direct the manufacturing activities within that machine group or family. The incumbent will possess and demonstrate the skills necessary to troubleshoot and solve complex problems, lead a group of co-workers, and assist in planning and scheduling of production in order to meet or exceed requirements and quality standards. Continuous Improvement of processes and products are an ongoing function of this position. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES+ Perform and/oversee all machine set-ups within a group/family of equipment within prescribed time allowances.
+ Troubleshoot all mechanical and process problems within machine group.
+ Work with tooling and maintenance personnel to maximize production efficiencies.
+ Train and assist other operators and department personnel as needed.
+ Suggest and implement process improvement ideas.
+ Perform machine maintenance such as oil changes and tightening of bolts.
+ Perform first piece inspection, monitor the quality of all parts, and make adjustments to maintain quality standards.
+ Perform the duties required to record data for SPC, ISO/QS documentation.
+ Move material by operating forklift or using non-motorized devices.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED+ 3-years previous experience as a Header Set-up Operator.
+ Ability to use all gages and gaging techniques required, as well as train others.
+ Thorough understanding of SPC.
+ Use math skills for blue print reading, gaging and SPC.
+ Ability to work independently and to exhibit leadership through demonstrated performance.
+ Demonstrate the understanding of the manufacturing process and machine requirements to perform all work assignments efficiently.
+ Required Hs Diploma/GED OR Relevant experience.
+ Fluent in English (both strong verbal and written communication skills).
Hours: Sunday – Friday 11 p.m. – 7 a.m. + Overtime
