Position: Pipeline Design Engineer

Patrick Engineering has an immediate need for a Pipeline Design Engineer to lead our pipeline design program. The PDE will oversee and perform engineering design work on natural gas and petroleum pipelines, facilities and related structures to meet client and industry specifications. In addition the PDE will train and qualify existing and future employees and manage subconsultant design work. This position will require technical and managerial skills to complete pipeline design projects.
Key Functions:
Oversee and conduct planning and design of natural gas piping and related aboveground facilities for Distribution and Transmission pipelines
Understand and apply client and industry engineering specifications to projects
Supervise, develop, and mentor technical staff
Provide leadership to staff
Interact with client's management and engineer department to facilitate project efforts
Project management and supervisory support
Ability to provide engineering support to underground and above ground gas storage facilities
Participate in new business development activities - developing proposals, conducting client presentations, exploring opportunities for additional revenue and projects
Requirements:
BS in Engineering: preferably Mechanical, Petroleum, or Civil
Engineering-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred or ability to obtain
Strong understanding of construction and engineering practices
Knowledge of compressor stations and storage a plus
0-5 years of experience in natural gas or pipeline industry
Demonstrate excellent technical and professional engineering skills commensurate with years of experience
Demonstrate a proactive, collaborative approach with project team members, client representatives, and review agencies Thorough understanding of Gas Industry specifications and 49 CFR Parts 191 & 192
Strong computer skills, specifically in the area of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
Strong technical written and verbal communications skills
Ability to clearly communicate concepts and ideas
Self-starter who can work independently or part of a multi-discipline team to provide results
Ability to build strong client relationships
Thorough knowledge of technical specifications for bidding documents
Knowledge of Resource management and scheduling
Progress reporting, project management and budgeting
