We are seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineer, who is passionate about marrying data with emerging technologies. As a Capital One Senior Manager, Back End, Software Engineer in our Card Technology space, you'll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One.

The Abstraction Platform team at Capital One is working on building a state-of-the-art software system to support one of the critical lifecycle functions enabling us to ingest accounts, customers, transactions and authorization transactions into a standardized storage system and make the data available for consumption via modernized APIs. These systems are being built using a modern tech stack and deployed in the Cloud. It is part of a larger Enterprise Credit Card Platform that the company is working on as a top key initiative in Capital One Card LOB.

As a member of this engineering team, you will get an opportunity to work alongside architects, product managers and other engineers, to design and build software. Some of the technologies and tools that you will leverage are:

Amazon Web Services - Serverless, ECS, EMR, and many other services

Multiple Programming Languages including Java, Golang

Open source frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot

APIs including REST and SOAP

Kafka Streaming framework

Automated Test and Deployment pipeline

Snowflake

You will work in an Agile environment where engineers and product owners collaborate on business intent definition & grooming and produce an architecture that is scalable and robust. You will own the infrastructure and code and practice test driven development.

What You'll Do:

Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices, and full stack systems to create solutions that help meet regulatory needs for the company

Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community, and from time to time, be asked to code or evaluate code

Collaborate with digital product managers, and deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences to help millions of Americans achieve financial empowerment

Utilize programming languages like Java, Python, SQL, Node, Go, and Scala, Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of AWS tools and services

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree

At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience does not apply)

At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

At least 4 years of people management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree

9+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js

3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service

4+ years of experience in open source frameworks

7+ years of people management experience

2+ years of experience in Agile practice

Familiarity with high volume, high traffic, or high transaction based systems with 100's of thousands of requests per day

Experience with multi-system integration using RESTful APIs or GRPC etc.

Experience with data transformation and data pipelines with high availability and scalability

Experience within banking or financial services industry
