Job Description

Position Overview

As an Operations Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for implementation, operation and analysis of Invenergy's Energy Storage facilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage Operating Invenergy Storage fleet and define maintenance program for Storage components and systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system specific issues with site personnel
  • Evaluate electrical engineering drawings and studies associated with Energy Storage Systems and their applications for operations
  • Provide electrical engineering support for the day-to-day operations of the Invenergy Storage fleet
  • Onboard new storage projects into operations engineering systems
  • Develop monitoring strategies for Energy Storage Systems including alarming, SOC management, control narratives
  • Review data and develop methods of analytics to improve reliability
  • Collaborate with power systems electrical engineering groups on balance of plant maintenance, operations, and emergency support for Energy Storage Systems
  • Review Energy Storage use cases and applications for new and existing Energy Storage Systems
  • Integrate Energy Storage system process and procedures with the Invenergy Control Center and SCADA teams for operations
  • Work and evaluate technology with suppliers of components used in Energy Storage Systems including battery manufacturers, battery management systems, inverter suppliers, SCADA, and HVAC systems

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years of work experience
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Problem solving and critical thinking
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
  • Strong project management skills
  • Some travel is required

Preferred Skills
  • Degree concentration in Power Systems or Renewable Energy Systems
  • Experience with OSIsoft PI products
  • Experience with renewable energy technology specifically storage
  • Experience with HV/MV electrical infrastructure (substations/switchyards, distribution systems, transmission lines, transformers, relays, meters, CTs, and PTs)
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NESC, ASCE and ANSI/IEEE standards and codes.
  • Understanding of RTU/RTACs, control systems, communication networks, and HMIs
  • Knowledge in compliance and reliability standards associated with NERC, FERC, and ISOs
  • Understanding of Electrical Safety Practices
