The Senior Programmer Analyst writes code for assigned projects, checks functionality, and ensures that programming follows established coding standards. The Senior Programmer Analyst prepares program specifications and diagrams while developing coding logic flowcharts. The Senior Programmer Analyst supports team members and ensures that established deadlines are met, while following established change management procedures. As a Senior Programmer Analyst, you will have opportunities to:
Works with the IT Systems Analyst and business units to consistently develop, write, translate, code, and test software programs and applications according to specified standards.
Analyzes reviews feasibility of changes/modifications/enhancements to new and existing programs to increase operating efficiency and/or adapt to new requirements and other changes. Maintains all required documentation and change log on all created and modified programs and follows all aspects of the change management process.
Administers critical analysis of test results and delivers solutions to problem areas.
Develops and maintains user manuals, support documentation, and guidelines in an effort to empower business units and IT Support to be able to maintain systems on an ongoing basis and to be used to educate staff members in the use of credit union systems.
Maintains ongoing communications with IT department personnel and management, informing them of all pertinent problems, irregularities, new developments, changes, portfolio status reporting, and other important information.
Manages third party vendors for the development of programming code and enhancements to existing credit union systems.
Develops standards and industry best practices for the programming domain
Provides second-line technical support to system users and works with IT Support so that operational problems are resolved quickly without significant interruption to service.
Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Additionally, all employees must follow policies and procedures to minimize risk by exercising judgment, raising questions to management, and adhering to policy guidelines.
Experience
5+ years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience. Working knowledge of Symitar, Symform, Microsoft SQL, HTML, ASP, XML, PowerOn, JavaScript, Perl, .NET and Visual Basic. Prefers knowledge and experience in UNIX/AIX, Symitar Episys PowerOn, Microsoft Access, Microsoft IIS / Apache, SQL Server Database administration, Knowledge of web applications, development languages and web development tools. Working knowledge of Jack Henry systems (i.e. ARCU, iPay, Synapsys, ProfitStars, ImageCenter, various symitar modules, etc) is preferred.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
A college degree. Three to five years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or Business Administration with a programming focus or equivalent experience preferred. Certifications such as PowerOn, MCSA, MCAD, MCSD, MCDBA desireable.
Interpersonal Skills
A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.
