Postdoctoral position in Reproductive Toxicology
A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Almudena Veiga-Lopez in the Department of Pathology, University of Illinois at Chicago
For this position, we are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to investigate the molecular mechanisms by which exposure to environmental chemicals affect female reproductive function (placenta and/or ovary). The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. degree in biological sciences (or related field) and a strong background in reproductive toxicology, cell culture and molecular biology techniques, including cloning and RNA sequencing.

Duties & Responsibilities
Perform experiments using advanced biomedical research techniques and develop new methods/applications
Have the primary responsibility for writing scientific publications.
Present the results at national and international scientific meetings
Participate in writing grant applications to major funding agencies

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications

PhD in relevant scientific area including Molecular Biology and Cell Biology, Toxicology, Reproductive Biology and/or Biochemistry.
Knowledge and hands on experience in basic molecular biology techniques (please refer to desired skills below)
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to work independently but also a team player
A strong work ethic and a commitment to becoming an independent scientist
Demonstrated skills in scientific writing (based on publication record)
This position is initially for two years and will be renewed annually based on performance.

 

Preferred Qualifications
Desired or preferred previous experience with: Cell culture (primary and immortalized lines), routine molecular assays (DNA/RNA isolation, quantitative RT-PCR), blotting/probing, histology, mitochondrial respiration assays (Seahorse), immunohistochemistry, microscopy, mouse experimentation and data analyses.
