Position Summary

The Sr. Director, Global Distribution & Logistics for Leica Biosystems is responsible for driving operational performance across the logistics and distribution functions, with interfaces to the commercial sales organization, manufacturing sites, our global supply chain planning teams as well as Trade Compliance, Regulatory and Quality control functions. This role will also be responsible for developing and executing a global fulfilment strategy, which will drive optimal customer experience, reduce operations costs and improve working capital turns.

This position will be located in the USA at our Richmond, Illinois site which includes Manufacturing and Global Distribution operations.

Major Responsibilities

You will be a part of the GSC Leadership Team and will report to the VP Operations and Global Supply Chain.

You will have responsibility for:

+ The execution of warehouse and logistics operations to fulfill customers daily requirements.

+ Regulatory compliance within logistics and distribution operations.

+ This includes compliance to FDA regulations and other similar governing organizations, Dangerous Goods, Trade Compliance.

+ Trade operations responsibilities for import and export processing.

+ Developing business plans for future investments and necessary business changes.

+ Responsible for developing and managing logistics and distribution annual budgets.

+ Implementing regional logistics platform improvements such as FAP, WMS, TMS and real-time tracking solutions.

In this role, you will have responsibility for:

+ Management of inbound and outbound logistics, 3PL contracts, distribution and trade operations globally.

+ Manage P&L for freight and distribution costs.

+ Establish a regional distribution strategy and ensure successful implementation and sustainment of process improvements.

+ Drive continuous improvement in quality, service and cost year over year.

+ Be part of the build out and transfer into a new distribution center servicing North America.

Required Education, Experience, Skills

+ Bachelor’s minimum, Master of Science, Master of Supply Chain and/or MBA preferred.

+ 10 to 15 years global transportation, logistics and distribution management.

+ Experience in large scale successful change management execution, distribution center transfers.

+ Experience in carrier and 3PL negotiation, contract and SLA management.

+ Familiarity with cost management and accounting related to supply chain functions (FAP, Accrual processes, P&L reporting).

+ Lean/Six Sigma

+ Knowledge of best practice distribution, logistics and trade compliance processes

+ Project management, project implementation processes
