ITW Medical is comprised of two highly-respected medical product brands – Coeur & Filtertek – supplying medical devices and components to global medical device brands. Filtertek manufactures molded filtration and flow control components. Coeur is a leading provider of disposable diagnostic imaging consumables.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Automation Manager is responsible for providing automation expertise and process expertise to the Manufacturing team for the Hebron, IL manufacturing site. To manage activities and allocates resources within the Automation Engineering area to ensure complete engineering support is provided to meet department /plant and divisional goals. Manage daily activities of Automation Team; set goals, monitor progress, offer coaching & training, support development, and evaluate performance for 24/5 production schedule. Accountable for the overall efficiency of automation equipment and machines. Troubleshoots equipment downtime issues, processes out of control producing non-conforming products, low yields or product quality issues. Identifies areas and means to improve automation manufacturing processes / equipment and product quality on existing product and processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIITIES:

+ Manage the Automation Engineering and technician team in a manner that promotes a high standard of employee performance in a positive and supportive work environment.

+ Modify and integrate existing machinery, systems and process improvement to improve quality, increase throughput, decrease costs, and strengthen safety measures.

+ Partners with Quality and Production team to simplify, reduce, inline, and automate in-process inspection.

+ Proactively leads CAPEX/Project Management initiatives.

+ Equipment Capacity Planning.

+ Overviews and co-ordinates the automation processes /modifications/upgrades.

+ Engineering support for the automation manufacturing processes and equipment.

+ Support the divisional engineering group when assistance is required.

+ Must be able to lead a team and give direction throughout the course of a project, including multiple projects simultaneously.

+ Basis PLC & Robotics troubleshooting

+ Ability to quickly analyze data and present conclusions.

+ Ability to perform all expected tasks under general supervision.

+ Strong follow-up and organizational skills.

+ Strong communication skills.

+ Experience with automation design, troubleshooting, working with vendors.

+ Work closely with customers, vendors and internal stakeholders during project execution

+ Lead continuous improvement projects related to existing products, processes and equipment.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Plastics, Biomedical, Electrical or Mechanical) preferred or equivalent years of experience.

+ A minimum of 5+ years related work experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role in a high-volume manufacturing environment required. (Experience with medical device manufacturing strongly preferred).

+ Experience in Automation process is critical to this role.

+ Strong Project Management Skills

+ Provides Engineering and technical support with respect to product design, specifications and functionality requirements.

+ Ability to train and coach others from a technical perspective.

+ Previous experience with managing people required.

+ Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to drive needed change.

+ Demonstrated ability to autonomously make strategic decisions.

+ Ability to use MS Office Tools such as Word, Excel, Project (or other project management software).
