OCI Regional Network Engineering is looking for a Sr. Manager to lead the Optical Engineering team. As a Sr. Manager of Regional Network Engineering, you will lead a team of network engineers responsible for the day-to-day management of OCI’s DWDM Transport network servicing Oracle’s customers. Due to the nature of the space, this role is a “full-service” opportunity, where duties cover the breadth of Networking disciplines, including engineering, operations, scaling, and supporting network monitoring and network automation.

This leader will have experience with direct leadership, ability to formulate strategy, assist in validating and improving engineering functions, delivery of services and process improvement. With the rapid growth of our organization, the Optical Engineering leader should be comfortable operating in large, complex teams with an aptitude for driving details, but also up-level communication for senior executives.

The Regional Network Engineering organization operates in a fast-paced, global, results-oriented environment and requires the ability to influence the decisions of senior business leaders through effective verbal and written communication, logical reasoning, and the presentation of alternatives. The successful candidate must be able to think and act both strategically and tactically. They will have a broad scope of experience including network design, network security, compliance, and deployment processes. A background in network cloud and project management is also an asset for this role.

Responsibilities

+ The successful candidate will have a direct impact on our top priority of delivering optical capacity and engineering solutions to support Oracle’s cloud infrastructure to provide metro DWDM optical transport solutions in support of the needs of the network.

+ Contribute to driving down costs for equipment and services for DWDM. To train other teams to deploy and operate optical systems. To provide operations support to ensure availability and uptime of the DWDM network. To develop standards for engineering, deployment, and operations.

+ Operate as a leader within Physical Networking; hire, develop people, manage performance, drive teams to produce needed input to feed our short- and long- term group needs.

+ Collaborate within Network Engineering, Network Automation, Network Monitoring, and the Operations Engineering organization to deliver a highly-available product to our customers.

+ Manage the Regional Network Engineering Optical Network Engineering team within the Physical Network organization, including:

+ Roadmap development, presentation, and execution

+ Optical process development, service team integration, process improvement

+ Cross-team risk and dependency management

Required Qualifications:

+ Thorough understanding of process development, DWDM transport systems, network technologies, including network design and fabrics, networking protocols, network automation, network telemetry and common hardware platforms.

+ Participate in Optical Architecture tactical and strategic discussions.

+ Participate in on call rotation for incident management.

+ Direct knowledge of cloud infrastructure and management.

+ Line management experience (direct reports); demonstrated ability to lead organization planning, hiring, performance management.

+ Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams, dive deep, and communicate key metrics to senior management in a timely manner.

+ Record of meeting deadlines while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.

+ Critical attention to detail.

+ Manage both technical and non-technical projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

+ 5+ years experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available network environments (large cloud, ISP, or service provider)

+ Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field

+ Experience in data center and/or service provider network environments, with a focus on operations

+ Understanding of networking technologies and protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, etc.)

+ Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis experience

+ Experience managing software development project a plus (but not required)

Hiring Range: from $112,300 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

10. Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
