Stryker is hiring a Senior Staff Formulations Scientist, New Product Development in Cary, Illinois to join our growing formulation development team at Stryker! In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop, qualify, and support the launch of new pharmaceutical, biocidal, and cosmetic formulations and formulation-based products that solve real problems in healthcare while advancing the division’s capabilities and supporting the long-term growth strategy.

Workplace Flexibility: Candidate must reside within a commutable distance to the facility in Cary, IL but is expected to be onsite at the facility multiple times/week. Typical schedule would be onsite Monday – Wednesday and remote Thursday and Friday but is subject to change.

What you will do:

+ Serve as the technical lead in the development of new formulated products from inception to full commercialization.

+ Research, develop, prototype, and evaluate new and novel formulations to address customer needs

+ Work cooperatively with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management to ensure project success.

+ Identify and lead the creation of or improvements to procedures, policies, processes, systems, and technology required.

+ Contribute to complex product development through release and lead one technical area of expertise.

+ Hold self and others accountable to deliver high quality results with passion, energy and drive to meet business priorities.

+ Mentor, develop and inspire others in current and future roles.

+ Collaborate and influence others on cross functional teams advancing partnerships to achieve business objectives.

Technical Responsibilities:

+ Lead research, design, development, modification and evaluation of formulations and formulated products.

+ Apply and mentor others on advanced formulation theories, principles, and concepts.

+ Translate user needs into design requirements and specifications

+ Conduct, design, and select advanced prototyping and testing methodologies

+ Lead and guide in correction of complex product design issues.

+ Conduct technology exploration and influence application in the business.

+ Develop invention disclosures, patents or trade secrets.

Business Responsibilities:

+ Contribute to competitive and market strategy by demonstrating in-depth knowledge of the market, customer dynamics and competitive offerings.

+ Apply strong understanding of clinical procedures to enhance product development.

+ Contribute and execute customer facing activities like voice of customer and customer centric design in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.

+ Demonstrate financial acumen.

Med Device Compliance:

+ Mentor others as a business unit expert on the usage of industry standards, including design requirements and test strategies per applicable regulations.

+ Lead others to create and refine design documentation, such as the Master Batch Record and create more progressive technical content.

+ Contribute to R&D procedures and development of industry standards working closely with cross-functional business units.

What you will need

Required :

+ Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical, Formulation or Cosmetic Science.

+ 6+ years of experience working in formulation development, preferably in the monographed OTC drug industry.

Preferred :

+ Experience in developing and optimizing complex formulations such as emulsions and suspensions.

+ Experience in creating Master Batch Production

+ In-depth knowledge of materials, manufacturing and processing methods and technologies to support complex product development.

+ Ability to communicate complex plans and technical information to team members.

+ Experience with chemical mixing equipment and chemical analysis equipment.

+ Pharmaceutical GMP Professional (CPGP) a plus .
