Job Description:
Ready to advance your education and have the opportunity to work on large scale engineering projects? Parsons Infrastructure is seeking motivated engineering students with an interest in bridge structures for a summer intern position. The intern will gain exposure to the production of drawings and calculations for the design of highway and rail bridge structures. The position is located in downtown Chicago, close to public transportation and the Metra commuter rail stations. The Chicago bridge group is a recognized leader in large, complex, and inter-disciplinary bridge design projects.
Parsons extensive experience in this field, combined with your willingness to work hard will propel your career and opportunities forward. We need interns with exceptional communication, analytical and organizational skills to work in a flexible, team-oriented environment.
In this role, under direction of a senior engineer, you will perform a variety of engineering support assignments requiring a fundamental knowledge of design/drafting standards, practices, and techniques. Interns typically perform a combination of drafting, field inspection, and creation and checking of design and quantity calculations.
Responsibilities:
+ Support senior level engineers in performing structural studies and plans.
+ Build and utilize computer models for performing structural calculations.
+ Pick up redline corrections to drawings in CAD.
+ Calculate and check quantities, and review shop drawing submittals.
Qualifications:
+ Civil Engineering students nearing completion of undergraduate studies, or students currently enrolled in graduate studies are encouraged to apply. Students should have completed courses such as structural analysis, steel or concrete design, geotechnical engineering, etc.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Exposure to CAD tools, structural analysis software, and proficiency with office productivity software.

Salary Range:
$20.63 – $36.11
