CNC Set Up Machinist Responsibilities:
- Set up and prepare CNC machines for production runs, ensuring they are calibrated and ready to produce accurate parts
- Create and/or load CNC programs into machines, interpreting engineering drawings and specifications to ensure precision and accuracy
- Select appropriate raw materials and load them into the machines, securing them in place for machining
- Choose appropriate cutting tools and tool holders, ensuring they are in good condition and properly installed
- Monitor machine operations to ensure the quality and accuracy of parts being produced, making necessary adjustments as required
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on CNC machines, including cleaning, lubrication and minor repairs to keep them in optimal working condition
- Identify and address any issues or malfunctions that may arise during the machining process, minimizing downtime
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment
- Maintain records of machine settings, tool changes and production quantities
- Complete required paperwork and reports
- Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality in machining operations
- Work closely with engineers, production supervisors, and other team members to meet production goals and resolve any technical issues
- Keep organized inventory of cutting tools and tooling accessories
- Ensure that machined parts meet the specified dimensions, tolerances and surface finish requirements
- Stay updated on CNC machining techniques and technologies through training and professional development opportunities
