Job Description
Direct Motor Lines, Inc., (Elk Grove Village, IL) seeks Transportation and Safety Manager to be responsible for financial analysis, sales and marketing/in-house freight broker, logistics, freight brokerage, safety and records, vehicle maintenance, freight broker. Financial Analysis: Budget, profit and loss projections, ROI analysis and develop pricing strategy. Sales and Marketing / In-house Freight Broker: develop and implement sales and marketing strategy with other departments. Develop and implement social media strategy. Public relations through social media and corporate events. Communicate sales strategy to in-house team and outside brokers and customers. Research market opportunities, evaluate competitors, research customers needs. Develop marketing and lead generation strategy Generating leads and attracting new prospects, and developing a sales pipeline. Identifying and selecting reputable and safe carriers for freight services. Providing customers with shipping quotes. Booking orders with customers on status of shipments and assisting with other inquiries. Generating leads and attracting new prospects and developing a sales pipeline. Collaborating with shippers, carriers and dispatchers to manage scheduled collections and drop-offs. Updating customers on status of shipments and assisting with other inquiries. Maintaining current knowledge of market trends in transportation marketplace. Logistics / Freight Brokerage: Plan and coordinate pick-up and delivery schedules. Work with Shippers, Carriers and Dispatchers to manage the schedules. Track and report shipment status to customers. Manage multiple deliveries, process spot requests and develop new sales strategies to improve business. Resolve freight discrepancies in a timely manner. Respond to customer concerns and queries, communicate with customers. Identify and contact qualified carriers for freight services. Negotiate contract and pricing agreements with carriers. Provide special discounts and promotions to customers. Contact current and potential customers for new business opportunities. Maintain strong relationship with multiple carriers. Maintain freight files and customer receipts for reference purposes. Safety and Records: Maintain company records and files. Create and maintain safety training documentation. Conduct internal accident investigation. Supervise performance of FMCSA safety audits. Maintain safety programs. Review driver qualifications and maintain driver files. Monitor daily driver performance related to HOS and Regulations. Vehicle Maintenance: Create maintenance program. Source and purchase replacement parts from China. Work closely with mechanical engineers and consultants to review parts quality. Freight Broker Responsibilities and Duties: Perform freight services according to company and government regulations. Plan and coordinate pick-up and delivery schedules. Work with Shippers, Carriers and Dispatchers to manage the schedules. Track and report shipment status to customers. Manage multiple deliveries, process spot requests and develop new sales strategies to improve business. Resolve freight discrepancies in a timely manner. Respond to customer concerns and queries professionally. Maintain positive and productive relationship with customers. Identify and contact qualified carriers for freight services. Negotiate contract and pricing agreements with carriers. Provide special discounts and promotions to customers. Contact current and potential customers for new business opportunities. Ensure that freight paperwork is completed and approved before transportation. Maintain freight files and customer receipts for reference purposes.
