Lead HVAC Engineer - Position and Responsibilities
As a Lead HVAC Engineer with Middough, you will collect and prepare data/information and performs detailed engineering calculations. The Lead HVAC Engineer will also perform basic engineering design for review. The Lead HVAC Engineer will demonstrate technical/professional growth annually by maintaining active membership in professional organizations and participating in technical seminars/courses.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Collect and prepare data/information, performs detailed engineering calculations, and writes formal engineering/technical reports.
Develop technical specifications & data sheets, perform technical evaluation of bids, and recommend best value design which meets client requirements for operability, reliability, maintainability and safety.
Take lead of field work by checking installations and problem solving activities.
Perform calculation checking and vendor drawing reviews.
Serve as Project Lead for single-discipline projects by estimating work hours, developing scope of work, making staffing recommendations, and checking drawings.
Interact with other departments and suppliers to obtain pertinent information.
Education, Experience and Skills
The successful candidate will possess the following:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering discipline required.
10+ years of experience performing basic engineering analysis and design functions.
Experience with design of Food and Pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities preferred.
Experience and knowledge of high temp and moisture content systems, ductwork system calculations, and equipment selection/specifications for air coolers/cooling towers, scrubbers, dust collectors and exhaust fans.
Familiarity with ChemCad, HeaVent and related computer design programs is required.
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and facility design experience.
PE license is preferred.
Experience in HVAC design (industrial, pharmaceutical, and laboratory experience preferred).
Fluent in the application and use of REVIT.
Plumbing, fire protection and piping experience is a plus.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and be highly organized for effective project planning.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail abilities.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

This position requires the candidate/employee to possess and maintain a valid driver's license in their state of residence.
