Direct Hire: Media Manager
Hybrid, 2 days onsite, Western Suburbs of Chicago
PR/Media Relations based

Our client is woven into healthcare as it relates to patient advocacy, education, and accreditation. Recognizing how important their initiatives are, they have formed a new department within the organization. Reporting to the Associate Director of Communications, this role will have you working closely with national healthcare consumer, policy, and trade reporters, with a particular focus on Washington, D.C.- based media outlets (85% of this role is interacting wiht DC), on proactive and reactive media relations. If you are passionate about healthcare, and advocate for patients and healthcare professionals alike, this role will give you that career satisfaction as you truly work with the media to educate and inform on important initiatives, accomplishments, and awareness.
Responsibilities
Assists with the development and implementation of strategic public relations.
Liaises with leadership, subject matter experts and other stakeholders to escalate our client's visibility.
Works to obtain top-tier press coverage in D.C.: Print, broadcast, and online media.
With Media Relations Manager, conducts day-to-day media relations. Efficiently responds to media inquiries to provide accurate information that aligns with the enterprise's policies, procedures, and practices.
Leverages existing media relationships and cultivates new contacts.
With Media Relations Manager, coordinates press conferences, editorial meetings, and other public relations events.
Maintains a keen understanding of pressing industry topics and media stories in healthcare and government - making appropriate communications strategy recommendations.
Writes and proofreads news releases, media statements, talking points and bylines.

To be considered for this role we are seeking the following experiences and skills:
Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism and/or English required.
6 years of experience in a public affairs or media relations role with experience working with DC Outlets: Working with DC will make up 85% of this role
Samples of News Releases and Media Statements you have written
Must have excellent writing, speaking, and networking skills, as well as thorough knowledge of the healthcare business and policy landscape.
Solid knowledge of the following: Meltwater, Cision or other media monitoring platform
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint): Expert PowerPoint needed for this role
Superior writing skills and solid knowledge of AP Style.
Existing media relationships with strong contacts inside the Beltway.
Healthcare experience preferred.
