Under direction, assists in the performance of specialized administrative support duties, and develops and implements management methods to improve organizational performance; and performs related duties as required.
*Assists in the organization, tracking, and summarization of attendance for a department of 500 911 telecommunicators.
*Works closely with Department leadership and other administrative personnel in the day-to-day administrative operation for 911 operations attendance.
*Reviews and analyzes departmental policies and procedures such as record keeping methods
*Coordinates and provides administrative support in departmental operations
*Develops plans for long-term organizational goals
*Plans and coordinates management activities to ensure the efficient operation of the executive office
*Communicates critical matters to appropriate departmental staff
Additional duties may be required for this position.
Location: Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC)
Address: 1411 W. Madison Street
Shift: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday
Days off: Saturday and Sunday
THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field, supplemented by one year of administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
This position requires applicants to successfully pass a skills assessment test(s) and complete an interview. Test results will be sent out by the Department of Human Resources after test results have been compiled and analyzed. Applicants who receive a passing score on the test(s) will be selected to interview.The interviewed candidate(s) receiving a passing score on the test(s) and possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral and written parts of the interview, will be selected.
Selected Bidders will be hired in seniority order according to the collective bargaining agreement.Non-Bidders best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected AND
Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:
*Previous timekeeping/payroll experience
*Previous administrative/secretarial experience
*A bachelor's degree in public administration or a directly related field
*Proficiency using Microsoft Office software
