PROJECT MANAGER
Department of Procurement Services
Information Technology Unit
Number of Positions: 1
Under direction, the class is managerial in nature and accountable for senior manager level functions; positions allocated to this class are characterized as having a broad scope of management responsibilities, and performs related duties as required
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Oversees and directs the planning, implementation and maintenance of Information Technology projects and initiatives
Reviews the work of vendors, consultants, contractors, and employees assigned to projects that meet required specifications
Determines priorities and coordinates efforts between all parties to ensure project completion
Designs and develops training and modifies existing training for end users; implements tools to evaluate training effectiveness
Provides application support to end users and troubleshoots issues with software
Consults with staff and consultants to determine scope of services, budgets and specifications for projects; established timelines and implements processes to track and monitor the progress of projects and the accomplishment of key objectives
Functions as a specialized advisor to executive level managers or functions as a technical specialist
Coordinates and administers citywide initiatives, departmental programs and special projects of a complex and technical nature
Assists management in evaluating technology issues, policies, and procedures
Develops full scale plans for IT projects and activities

Days: Monday - Friday
Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration or a field of study directly related to the responsibilities of the position, plus five years of project management work experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience,
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS
This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected.
Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:
Experience managing rollout or maintenance of application software
Experience with software development as a programmer or coder
Experience training end users and giving oral presentations
Possession of an ITIL certification
Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning systems such as Oracle or an equivalent system
