DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS
Informatics & IT Unit
Department of Public Health
Number of Positions: 1
Mission: CDPH works with communities and partners to create an equitable, safe, resilient and Healthy Chicago.
This position will provide day-to-day management of CDPH's IT assets and infrastructure and assists in the development of an IT infrastructure that aligns with CDPH's work towards data modernization. This position manages will work with CDPH program managers, external vendors, and the City's IT department on the implementation of IT projects. This position reports to a Project Manager that leads all IT activities for CDPH and will supervise a team of IT specialists.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
*Manage large-scale hardware and software implementation activities.
*Assist in tracking, prioritizing and shepherding CDPH's IT projects through to completion.
*Assist in the development and implementation of CDPH' s IT strategy.
*Provide effective supervision and support a team of up to 6 IT specialists who support the implementation and management of the department's IT assets.
*Ability to work in a matrixed organization with stakeholders who have varying levels of technical literacy to achieve the CDPH's information technology strategic goals.
*Develop and maintain relationships with key IT stakeholders including CDPH program staff, vendors and the City of Chicago's IT Department.
*Establish and manage relationships with vendors.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
*Previous work experience working in local, State or Federal Government or within a healthcare setting.
*Previous experience in strategic planning for at least one data modernization initiative.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in computer sciences, Information Technology/Systems or a directly related field, plus seven years of experience in Information Technology, implementation and management of which five years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS
This position requires applicants to complete an interview which will include a written exercise and/or a skills assessment test as part of the interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral and written parts of the interview will be selected.
