SMX is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Knowledge Manager to join our team as part of an effort to advise a major application modernization and migration program in the US Government. Successful candidates have a broad-based technology background that will allow them to effectively advise and support the client in their application modernization journey.

This project supports the Defense Acquisition System Analysis (DASA) Data Engineering Services (DES) division of the Army. This role is remote.

The KM is responsible for identifying, capturing, and organizing valuable knowledge associated with the DASA (DES) organization, gathering information from various sources, and structuring it in a way that is easily accessible and understandable. They will set the strategy for how knowledge is shared and stored internally as well as externally, focusing on core customer needs as the foundation for this strategy. They may develop and implement processes and tools to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration among task areas and facilitate the transfer of knowledge from experienced members to newer or less experienced teammates. They will work with the PMO to ensure that critical knowledge is preserved and protected from loss, such as through retirements, employee turnover, or organizational changes. They will work with task leads to identify opportunities for applying knowledge and expertise effectively. They will monitor the effectiveness of knowledge management initiatives, gather feedback, and analyze metrics to assess the impact of knowledge sharing efforts, to identify areas for improvement, refine processes, and implement changes to optimize knowledge management practices within the organization. Additionally, the knowledge manager will support and supplement strategic communications.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

+ Develop and implement a holistic knowledge management strategy that aligns with DASA DES goals, ensuring easy access to accurate information for external and internal stakeholders

+ Conduct thorough user research, including interviews and usability testing, to gather insights that drive continuous improvement of current knowledge management systems

+ Audit and inventory content to make recommendations for future readability, suitability, and findability

+ Analyze the technology to understand where data/content is housed, where is it presented and how it can/should be governed and maintained

+ Create a KM strategy for a set of personas and/or use cases

+ Create and enforce content standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency, accuracy, and relevance of knowledge resources

+ Identifying, capturing, and organizing content from disparate sources

Required Skills and Experience:

+ Clearance Required: Secret

+ A master’s degree in a specialized field plus a minimum of 1 year of applicable experience; or, a bachelor’s degree in the specialized field plus 7 years of applicable experience; or, a bachelor’s degree in any field with a minimum of 9 years of specialized experience

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, expertise in SharePoint/Teams, Microsoft Word and Powerpoint

+ Experience creating strategic communications and a knowledge management and content strategy
