Role Summary
In this role, you will be working on battery production and manufacturing at the module level. This position will report into the Senior Manager of Battery Systems Engineering.
Responsibilities
* On-site Design Engineering support of high voltage sub-assemblies in Normal, Illinois * Collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality to solve ramp, yield, and scrap issues
* Uncover and escalate quality issues, drive to resolution through problem solving techniques (containment, root cause, corrective actions, etc.)
* Identify and support implementation of continuous improvement opportunities * Track issues from line failures and drive process/supplier improvements
* Prepare rework plans and quality requirements for rework
* Lead and drive builds related to prototype, pilot, and start of production activities for new programs
* Own design and operation of bench testing equipment that can quickly identify root causes
* Lead DFMEA efforts and proper linkage to PFMEA and Control Plan
Qualifications
* 3+ years of work experience in Battery/Automotive/Aerospace/related industries
* At least a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
* Excellent problem-solving skills; reliant on core engineering principles
* Passion for working on products that involve the intersection of mechanical, electrical, and software engineering * Self starter, must be willing to run to and seek out issues
* Strong communication, multitasking, and interpersonal skills, both in presentation and technical writing * Previous experience with product launches and production schedules
* Passion for testing and teardowns to find the root cause of an issue
* Proficiency with statistics and data analysis
* Knowledge of battery behavior and high voltage safety
* Experience with release engineering including CAD design, GD&T, and PLM interface
* Issue tracking tools (Jira, Bugzilla, etc.) a plus
* Proficiency using CAN/Ethernet tools for debugging purposes a plus
* Proficiency with CATIA V6 (3Dx) and Enovia a plus
