The University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry (UIC COD) is seeking candidates to join a worldwide leader in oral health education, clinical care and research that is patient -centered and evidence-based as Part-Time Dental Assistants.
The College of Dentistry is the largest oral health college in the State of Illinois, provides care for 35,000 patients a year, and has over 500 students seeking dental degrees including DMD, PhD and Master's programs. The Dental Assistant II is utilized throughout UIC COD in the Department of Oral Surgery, Pediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics, Endodontics, Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry (Prosthodontics). The Dental Assistant II duties include chair-side assistance during dental treatments or surgical procedures, prepares surgical suites, transfer instruments, retracts and evacuates the oral cavity, and assist on surgical cases with local anesthesia.
Qualifications:
1. High school graduate or equivalent
2. Any one of the following categories:
A. Six (6 months) of work experience in dental assisting comparable to that performed at the Dental Assistant I level of this series.
B. Graduation from an accredited Dental Assisting School.
C. Current Certification as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) by the Dental Assisting National Board, if required by the employing institution.
The preferred candidate will be have surgical experiences, experience with four handed dentistry techniques, ability to multitask, and have good oral and written communication skills.
