Job Description

The Unified Communications and Collaboration (UCC) team is responsible for the strategy, architecture, engineering and support of Alight's collaboration environments, including Microsoft Teams, Webex, Zoom, video conferencing, web conferencing, telephony, SIP trunking, and digital signage. Alight seeks an experienced solution architect with team management experience to lead current strategic initiatives and drive greater workplace engagement.ResponsibilitiesArchitecture and Strategy
Responsible for global enterprise architecture and implementation for collaboration, conferencing, telephony, video conferencing, and digital signage.
Microsoft Teams - manage the architecture, product evolution, and adoption of the Teams environment, including conferencing and office telephony. Direct interface with vendor engineers to advance platform initiatives and support.
SIP trunking - determine architecture, vendor product, and topology of the corporate SIP trunking environment, including connectivity for office telephony (Microsoft Teams) and contact center (Genesys Cloud) trunking.
External collaboration - work with the security team to architect and implement secure external collaboration with partners and clients, including Microsoft Teams federation, B2B Guest access, and Teams Shared Channel capabilities.
Conferencing - set technology standards for conferencing, including all video, web, and audio conferencing. Enforce the use of standards (e.g. Microsoft Teams) where possible, and work to accommodate exceptions dictated by client demand or gaps in capability.Technology Management
Lead the team in the management of UCC technologies.
Provisioning and de-provisioning - oversee the provisioning and de-provisioning of colleague accounts and applications managed by the UCC team.
Incident and problem resolution - participate in or lead incident and problem resolution as needed for products and technologies managed by the team.
Media quality - work with network team and technology providers to monitor and troubleshoot voice and video media quality and reliability issues.
Dial plan management - lead number and dial plan management for our enterprise voice systems.
E911 management - manage the configuration and upkeep of our E911 implementations for our contact center and office telephony environments, to ensure compliance with telecom regulations.
FAX product management - manage our enterprise FAX products and services (RightFax, Faxcomm, and Hilafax) to ensure reliable delivery and receipt of faxes.
Trunking - manage our enterprise trunking solutions and capacity for our contact center and office telephony environments.
Digital signage - manage enterprise-class digital signage capabilities for our global office locations.
Cost - manage the overall annual budget for UCC technologies. Identify and implement cost savings opportunities.
Organization and Location Changes - work with our real estate organization as needed to incorporate new locations and colleagues.
Standardization - develop and enforce UCC standards and best practices.
Vendor and contract - manage our UCC vendors to maintain cost-effective services. Conduct RFPs and product selections as needed to ensure we are using the most appropriate products and managing costs.Required Education, Knowledge, and Experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
10 + years of IT experience in unified communications or telephony
2 + years of team management experience
Enterprise telephony and collaboration architecture development
Microsoft Teams administration, including voice, web, and video conferencing
Voice quality analysis and problem-resolution experience
A strong foundation of network infrastructure technologies and the impact they have on telephony and conferencing applications, including:
VLANs and subnets
DNS / DHCP
Proxy servers
Firewalls
SD-WAN
QoS
Strong grasp of QoS in a voice and video environment
Working knowledge of VoIP protocols, including SIP, RTP, WebRTC
Working knowledge of network monitoring tools such as CQD, Wireshark, SNMP monitoring
SBC configuration and management
Vendor management, including cost, incident, and problem management, and experience leading RFP processes for solution selection.
