Job Description
30% Under general direction, serves as a Quality Assurance Engineer performing difficult and specialized professional work in the Quality Assurance & Monitoring Unit for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT):
- Reviews, monitors, and recommends changes to required documentation of software development throughout the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Monitors production release methods to ensure compliance with department policies.
- Prepares quality assurance reports and compliance statistics and provides to upper management.
- Assists with establishing standards and Department polices to comply with State of Illinois (SOI) quality assurance standards and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) which complement and reflect industry best practices.
- Works with development staff to ensure compliance with established policies and guidelines.
- Assists with internal/external audit events when directed.
25% Serves as a designated lead worker:
- Assigns and reviews work.
- Provides guidance and training to assigned staff.
- Advises immediate supervisor regarding staff work performance.
25% Provides quality assurance services for systems supported by the division:
- Prepares user and operational guidelines, operational manuals, and system documentation.
- Performs necessary system analysis.
- Prepares project and system documents to authenticate current system operations and planned and necessary application changes.
- Monitors the performance of the quality management system, producing data, and measuring quality operations against set standards.
- Prepares reports for management.
- Analyzes data to identify patterns and potential root cause issues through data analytics.
- Performs tests and provides statistics using quality process control tools
10% Provides training and guidance of quality assurance standards to various units within the Division:
- Tracks participation and compliance of IT Staff throughout the division.
- Researches repetitious issues using data analytics and analysis of failure points to determine root cause issues and recommends corrective action plan to management to mitigate and or resolve the issues.
- Works outside of normal hours to meet deadlines.
5% Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology (IT) field:
- Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and maintain current on IT products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
- Attends demonstrations and exhibitions related to assigned operations
5% Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
