The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Deputy Chief Administrative Law Judge. Subject to management approval, this position will serve as second-in-command of the Administrative Hearings Unit and will direct, evaluate, and monitor the activities of attorneys engaged in administrative hearings and reviews on a variety of child welfare, child protection, and licensing issues. This position establishes and maintains systems for receiving and docketing hearing requests, assigning and scheduling hearings, and reporting hearing officers’ recommendations to the Chief Administrative Law Judge and the Director. Minimum Qualifications

1. Requires completion of law school

2. Requires four years of administrative experience in the practice of law

3. Requires possession of a license to practice law in Illinois

Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance)

1. Three years of experience supervising professional legal staff in a public or business organization

2. Two years of professional experience in the practice of child law

3. Two years of professional experience conducting or arguing hearings and appeals

4. Two years of professional experience conducting legal analysis as an attorney

5. Three years of professional management experience in a public or business organization

2. Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties. Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license
