Job Description
The Village of Glen Carbon is seeking a qualified individual to fill a full-time position of street laborer to join the Public Works team.
Duties for the position include but are not limited to maintaining highways, municipal and rural roads, drainage facilities, and rights-of-way in safe condition. This work will include: erecting concrete block walls; maintaining road signs using hand tools and power tools; dumping, spreading, and tamping asphalt; using a pneumatic tamper to patch broken or eroded pavement; using a tar kettle to perform crack sealing work; forming and pouring concrete sidewalks, curbing, and pavement; driving trucks to transport crew and equipment to work site; performing snow-removal tasks; operating a tractor with mower attachment to cut grass; and various other physical laboring jobs as assigned.
