The Role:
Software Engineer Manager (Front-End)
What You Will Do:
We are seeking a front-end focused Software Engineer Manager with strong engineering skills aligning with a Senior or Lead Software Engineer, or Software Architect to join our team. This leadership position will manage a team of software engineers in a supportive, productive, and balanced environment. Front-end engineering at Galen uses a flexible, modern architecture using TypeScript with React to build compelling user interfaces and complex functionality. Significant emphasis is placed on engineering test automation through unit, integration, system, and user interface tests. Engineers are empowered and expected to make key decisions in their designs and implementations, supported directly by their leadership. As a leader on the team, you will also be expected to think and communicate with the team at a high level, while being able to effectively drop into the details, for both your own work and others’.
Galen has offices in Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, and Burlington, VT. The position could use any of these offices or be entirely remote.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead and manage a team of software engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure work flows through our Kanban engineering process.
· Bring your unique perspective and experience to the table. Share knowledge and expertise with the team.
· Work closely with Product Management and Product Design to ensure features transition smoothly from concept to reality.
· Collaborate with engineering leadership to understand our customers and influence our products.
· Break down complex tasks into manageable work items, supporting a process that emphasizes agility, flow, and work in progress limits.
