Wieland is hiring a Process Engineer Technician. The Process Engineer Technician will be responsible for providing the support system for the Process Engineering Department including troubleshooting equipment and tooling issues, research new processes and methodology with an ongoing commitment to detail & quality. This role is located in Wheeling, IL and will be fully on-site.
Schedule: 7:00 am-3:00 pm
Responsibilities
Process Engineer Technician Responsibilities:
Assist the Head of Process Engineering with leading, coordinating, and documenting process & continuous improvement initiatives and implements cost reduction activities
Become subject matter expert for the technical and quality aspects of assigned area and will optimize, develop, and implement Standard Operating Procedures
Conduct technical trainings with operators
Coordinate purchases of equipment according to the process improvement needs
Implementation of controls for production process in terms of productivity/reliability/quality/safety
Creation of Coil Defect Maps
Tier 1 Production Board Management
Supporting Quality to reduce or eliminate customer rejections of defective material
Management of Processing Engineering improvement projects
Process Engineer Technician Qualifications:
Required - ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
Required - Strong ability and desire to learn and apply new concepts
Preferred - Advanced metallurgical understanding of metal (mechanical properties, crystalline structure, etc.)
Preferred - Advanced knowledge of all on-site operations (cold rolling, continuous annealing, leveling, slitting, packaging)
Preferred - Experience in LEAN or Six Sigma - Green Belt certification
SAP, WFS, and Ametek Smart View Consol experience preferred
Developmental training will be provided as required
