Overview of Position:

The Cash Accounting & Accounts Receivable Manager is responsible for overseeing all general accounting operations with an emphasis on cash accounting and accounts receivable functions. The Cash Accounting & AR Manager will be responsible for collectively driving the month-end close process, reconciliation review, and enhancement of financial statement preparation and internal review process. The ideal candidate is deadline-driven, possess the ability to prioritize, and be able to find ways to improve processes for greater efficiency. This person will monitor and enforce financial controls in accordance with company policies and procedures, maintain accurate accounting systems, and compile timely financial reports. The Cash Accounting & AR Manager will direct a team of four while working across the larger finance team. This position will report to the Director of Accounting and is based in Lombard, Illinois.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Manage the daily activities of cash accounting and AR, including oversight on transactions related to cash transactions, accounts receivable, intercompany, and other general accounting areas, as well as the posting and maintenance of general ledger accounts

+ Oversee and manage month/quarter/year-end close activities through direct supervision of staff members on journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, and reporting & analysis of operating results, while adhering to tight deadlines

+ Ownership of 80+ bank account reconciliations performed by direct reports to ensure their accuracy and timely resolutions of issues

+ Improve account reconciliation process, drive deadlines, and enhance deliverables as they pertain to the month-end close

+ Establish and maintain banking/cash management and accounting policies and procedures, as well as identifying new policies and areas of improvement

+ Manage the daily activities of the accounts receivable department

+ Implement and enforce internal controls; ensure compliance with company policies and procedures

+ Collect and provide information for audit inquiries and assistance to internal and external auditors

+ Identify and manage special projects, as needed

Education, Experience and Certifications Required

+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required

+ Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting

+ 1-2 years of supervisory / managerial experience in accounting preferred

+ Experience with a large-scale ERP system, such as J. D. Edwards, is a plus

+ Experience in Accounts Receivable functions

+ Strong experience with bank reconciliations

+ Experience with Bank of America CashPro or JP Morgan Chase system, is a plus

+ Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization

+ Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills

+ Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment

+ Ability to identify and improve systems and processes

+ Maintain a high level of integrity, confidentiality and professional skepticism

+ Skills and Knowledge Preferred:

+ Travel requirement outside of immediate area (as a percent): <10%
