Job Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION
An Environmental Specialist at SET Environmental is responsible to:
Comply with SET Environmental’ s policies, safety rules, and procedures regarding the proper use of safety equipment, safe work practices, and Site Safety Plans
Demonstrate active participation in the safety program and adhere to all aspects of applicable safety programs, site specific rules, and regulations
Perform Lab Pack duties- Inventory, package, prepare, and load waste containers for shipment according to chemical compatibility and applicable regulations
Preparation and confirmation of accuracy concerning inventory sheets and shipping manifests
Collect profile information from customers for the completion of new waste profiles and submittal to SET Customer Service for approval by Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facilities
Perform SAA and CAA inspections at various locations, notifying site of any issues and offering solutions
Provide weekly onsite waste management and generator status data tracking for various customers
Collect field samples for waste characterization and complete labelling and Chain-of-Custody as needed
Maintain current knowledge of SET handbooks and manuals as well as pertinent D.O.T. and E.P.A. regulatory updates
Continue to learn or already possess working knowledge and understanding of RCRA and D.O.T. and apply them as they affect storage, transportation, and disposal of waste (both RCRA and Non-Hazardous Waste)
Perform other miscellaneous duties as necessary
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
B.S. in a science-oriented field (Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or similar subject matter)
40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification or Refresher Certification (Preferred)
TWIC or ability to obtain (Required)
Successful ability to wear a respirator (Pass Respirator Fit Test)
Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Hazardous Materials endorsement to operate a 24’ box truck (Preferred)
Willingness to learn or already possess knowledge of RCRA, D.O.T., and OSHA regulations
Ability to operate company vehicles, CDL vehicles, and other waste handling equipment
Ability to provide technical customer service to customers
Possess a strong degree of attention to detail
Knowledge of proper PPE requirements and ability to determine proper usage in different situations
