We are searching for a Financial Crimes Investigator Analyst to join our team.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Utilizes a transaction monitoring system to complete alerts to determine if further escalation is warranted to determine if suspicious activity was identified and a possible financial crime (fraud, money laundering, or terrorist financing) has occurred that involves Northern Trust accounts and clients
  • Supports each alert investigation with appropriate analysis and documents investigation activities and conclusions
  • Completes alerts within prescribed timeframes according to Northern Trust's timing standards
  • Interacts with partners or external parties in the course of alert investigations, as appropriate
  • Recognizes the highly sensitive nature of investigation activities and maintains confidentiality
  • Consults with management when necessary, regarding more complex or sensitive investigations
  • Able to conduct open-source research, including searches in external and internal databases to facilitate discussions and reach decisions
  • Ensures the timely screening, review, recordkeeping, and reporting of FinCEN's 314(a) requests as prescribed by the regulation
  • Ensure that operational 314(a) processing is completed, analyze the output of the 314a screening process, and make decisions on appropriate actions to take
  • Review and screen 314(a) reports generated on clients and transactions to determine if there is a match



The successful candidate will benefit from having:

  • Strong analytical skills are required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations related to the Bank Security Act (BSA), USA Patriot Act, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and 314(a) regulation
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills are required
  • Technical skills / knowledge of Northern Trust transaction processing systems is preferred
  • A College or University degree and at least 2-4 years of relevant work experience is preferred.
  • Related Industry qualification (e.g., ACAMS, CFE) or studying towards, is preferred.
