PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

Responsible for providing direct oversight of work performed in the shop, ensures work complies with codes, regulations, and shop procedures, and serves as the central contact point for GROWMARK and customer service calls. Markets the maintenance services provided at the respective Maintenance Facility to members and non-members

SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP

Supervises, leads and develops the shop technicians.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Supervises, plans, and leads the daily work and ongoing development of the Technicians. Observes, assists, and trains employees to maximize productivity, improve work quality, and to grow employees' skills for greater responsibilities.

Responsible for hiring and training new technicians in the respective shop.

Responsible for day-to-day operations on the shop floor. Works with the administrative group to see all functions are completed accurately and timely. Codes all bills and sends in for payment. Inspects all paperwork and VKIP test forms for completion and accuracy upon completion of work. Coordinates job completion including: job estimates, parts needed, timeliness, and quality of work.

Assigns resources to jobs to meet production or repair schedule. Ensures orderly flow of materials and parts to work bays, oversees parts ordering and cost-efficient purchasing procedures, corrects deficiencies, and utilizes excess hours productively by working in the shop when possible.

Administers regulatory requirements of business including: DOT regulations and compliance, OSHA compliance, R-Stamp and ASME procedures, federal and state, and local environmental requirements compliance, security plans, and company EHS policies and compliance.

Administers safety program, develops training schedules, and utilizes regular Safety Phase training to ensure employees comply with regulatory requirements, EHS, OSHA, and DOT policies. Conducts and/or coordinates training, monitors and reinforces application procedures, training, and processes. Accountable for shop work quality.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Follows GROWMARK's Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

Performs all other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent and proven communication and leadership skills. Prefer 3-5 years of heavy-duty trailer maintenance experience.

Ability to become a certified DOT. mechanic (within three years of employment) and be able to complete federal annual inspections as required by HM 183 and be a certified air brake technician.

Proven ability to provide effective leadership to other mechanics resulting in efficient operation of the facility.

Proven ability to repair tractors, pressure vessels, freight boxes, and all other GROWMARK equipment.
Demonstrated ability to operate diagnostic equipment.

Demonstrated working knowledge of proper welding techniques.

Proven ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals.

Proven knowledge and understanding of the proper handling of hazardous materials.

Must be mobile and ability to frequently lift items weighing fifty pounds.

Must be willing and able to work hours beyond those usually considered normal.

Occasionally, frequently or continuously exposed or required to work in the following conditions: Varying heights, Extreme weather conditions (hot, cold& wet), Noisy conditions, Confined spaces. Working conditions may include dust, fumes, chemicals and electrical hazards with appropriate safety measures.

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK's policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
