That remote technician will be performing the physical labor to swap out Meraki network hardware and replace with Aruba/Cato hardware.

Job Description: Basic Criteria

o Reliability: The candidate will show up on time and ready to work each night. A candidate who misses workdays and shows up late will put this project at risk and risks termination.

o Organized Mindset: This project is not for the faint-of-heart. This contractor will be talking from the moment the clock starts, and for the next 8 hours. A 30-minute break can be built into the schedule.

o Reliable Transportation: The project begins with a 3-week training period. Training may include travel to local Chicagoland stores for training. Candidates must arrange daily transportation during this period.

o Access to reliable home internet: Since they’re using MS Teams to communicate, unreliable internet will cause the deployment to fail. The candidate must have reliable home internet and a data plan on their phone that supports hot spot. Option to go to the office.

Job Description: Mandatory skills

o Attention to detail: This contractor will be counted on to adhere to a set of provided instructions and walk a remote technician (in another location) through dozens of steps. They must be extremely focused and able to pay strict attention to time since the task each night must be completed in 8 hours.

o Network-device-based understanding (as opposed to technicians who are portal and administration based):

o Experience with Switches

o Experience with SD-Wan Firewall Devices

o Experience with APs

o Hands-on experience installing/moving devices within a rack:

o Have they ever unracked or racked network devices?

o Have they ever dealt with patch panels and cable management?

o Any overall experience with cleaning anything

o Knowing the difference between the different type of power devices e.g., “PDU, battery backup, UPS

o Identifying all types of devices that could be in a network rack e.g., “Switch-based KVM, server, networking equipment”

o Subnetting and IP schema awareness and troubleshooting:

o Know the difference between subnets.

o Experience with devices communicating through VLANs.

o Fundamentally understanding how subnetting works and how devices need to be configured to work within a VLAN

o Identifying firewall rules that would apply to VLAN traffic

o Fundamental understanding of DNS
