Actalent is currently hiring for a motivated and self-driven Automated Hardware Test Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for designing and developing test process for various hardware and electronics assemblies on both flexible and rigid circuit boards. Our SMT production line has a specialized “bed of nails” (unit-under-test) test solution that our Engineer will become the owner of a Checksum Analyst EMS System. This person will have the responsibility of creating and developing test solutions to support automated test processes for a product line serving consumer, automotive and medical devices. In this role you will be writing test plans, developing microcontroller firmware, and create unique test solutions for transitioning the assembly into a production test environment.

What You Will Do In Your Role

+ Develop test solutions for the production team. These solutions include programming tests into a Checksum system on our SMT line and other microcontroller-based test solutions.

+ Understand microcontroller architecture including how to integrate into a design and utilize timers, interrupts, A/Ds, PWM’s, etc.

+ Write and step through C code using a debugger and document and explain your software code to others.

+ Debug test solutions directly and provide direction to production personnel throughout development cycle.

+ Identify which aspects of design need to be 100% tested on every assembly.

+ Understand differences between designing high volume products and developing a test solution that validates each individual product and understand statistical data analysis.

+ Estimate timelines for development work based on requirements and existing project workload and keep track of time spent on various projects.

+ Study device specifications for electronic parts and select parts based on performance and cost trade-offs.

+ Research new technologies for development of test solutions and product design; and proposes ideas to advance our capabilities to stay ahead in the market.

+ Verify product design. Perform bench level testing of prototypes, executes design validation (DV) and production validation (PV) tests.

+ Create technical documents based on project needs such as a Test Plans and Reports.

+ Familiarity with creating Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis (DFMEA) for a design, including both possible hardware and software failures.

Requirements:

+ Associates Degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science

+ Experience in setting up automated test processes

+ Understanding of Statistics and Analyzing test results

+ Experience in product development including schematic design

+ Experience with writing embedded software for microcontrollers

+ Experience with Embedded development (C, Python, Labview, etc)

What Will Put You Ahead

+ Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Electrical & Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Computer Science

+ Experience with capacitive touch for various styles of user interfaces

+ Certifications in Lean Six Sigma or Data Analytics

+ Understanding of Flexible printed circuit technologies

+ Experience with Altium Designer

+ Embedded C coding with IDEs from Cypress, Texas Instruments, or Microchip/Atmel

+ Experience with Circuit Debug Tools (Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, Ardvark, etc.)

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

+ Experience designing test fixtures from the group up to perform manual or automated hardware testing of printed circuit boards

+ Knowledge of RF, Bluetooth is a good plus

+ Knowledge of C, python, LabVIEW is a plus
