CLERK IV

DEPARTMENT OF WATER MANAGEMENT

Number of Positions: 1

(Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)

Salary: $48,960; B-10

This position is open to the public and all current city employees covered under the City’s Collective Bargaining Agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) – BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4 & 5. Only employees in City job titles in this bargaining unit are eligible to bid.

Under general supervision, supervises employees engaged in the performance of routine clerical duties and/or performs clerical duties of a complex nature; and performs related duties as required.

ESEENTIAL DUTIES

· Oversees the filing, storage and maintenance of departmental files; coordinates and monitors the processing of various forms and documents including applications, requisitions, vouchers, payroll.

· Coordinates and prioritizes work flow.

· Supervises the ordering, storage and distribution of supplies and equipment; supervises staff engaged in reviewing benefit forms to ensure accuracy, completeness, authenticity and employee eligibility.

· Reviews request for information from departmental records and processes requests in accordance with departmental regulations.

· Trains and instructs employees in clerical operations and departmental rules, regulations and policies.

· Prepares a variety of statistical, operating and performance reports.

· Codes and prepares input and output data for computer-based systems.

· Performs related duties as required.

Additional duties may be required for this position.

LOCATION: Bureau of Operations and Distribution

HOURS: Various, Monday – Friday

THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years of clerical work experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

This position requires applicants to successfully pass skills assessment tests and complete an interview. Test results will be sent out by the Department of Human Resources after the test results have been analyzed and compiled. The candidates that receive a passing score on the skills assessment test will be invited to interview for the position. Candidate(s) receiving a passing score on the test and possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral interview, will be selected according to the collective bargaining agreement.

Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:

· Proficiency using Microsoft Office Word and Excel

· Proficiency with Data Entry

· Previous work experience compiling and preparing management reports
