Target hiring range for this position will be between $250,000-$350,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Job Summary:
The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach reports to the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and assists the Head Coach in the coaching and training of the Men’s Basketball Team. This position is a full-time appointment, renewable on a contract basis, May 1 through April 30.
*Willingness and ability to work a non-traditional schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
Specific Responsibilities:
Coaching
- Assist the head coach in the coaching and training of the Northwestern Men’s Basketball team; developing and conducting all in-season and out-of-season sessions throughout the year as deemed necessary and appropriate.
- Aid in the psychological preparation of team in both pre-game and post-game; and for developing motivational approach to practice and games.
- Develop comprehensive knowledge of men’s basketball in decision-making, delegating authority and in setting and meeting objectives.
Recruiting
- Assist the head coach in the recruitment of top student-athletes, commensurate with the admissions qualifications of Northwestern University who are capable of successfully competing at the Big Ten level.
- Maintains good relations with the parents of prospective and current student-athletes as well as with Northwestern Alumni.
Alumni Relations, Public Relations and Development
- Maintains sound alumni relations.
