Under the direct supervision of the Director of Accounting, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for providing excellent customer service and support to internal clients. The Senior Staff Accountant at our Crown Center corporate office is accountable for supporting the Association's Accounting/Finance Department by performing a variety of accounting, reporting, and clerical tasks while following Association guidelines. 2-3 days/week in-office minimum required.
Salary starts at $70,000 per year, includes full-time benefits, and opportunities to grow within the organization

Responsibilities
General Accounting (Client-Related):
Record financial transactions in a timely and accurate manner utilizing QuickBooks Pro Online.
Handle banking services including checks, credit card, and investment transactions.
Perform accounts payable function utilizing QuickBooks Pro Online
Provide audit workpapers and adequate support for the annual financial audit.
Document procedures for client-related tasks.
Provide excellent customer service.
General Accounting (YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago- Specific):
Assist finance staff as requested with the preparation of financial statements, audit workpapers, and tax support.
Create and document various journal entries for the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago
Process ACH Return activity into the Membership System for Crown Center
Prepare timely and accurate account reconciliations, as assigned.
Run daily and/or weekly reports by closing the Membership System for Crown Center
Follow up with NSF checks and unclaimed checks.
Handle administrative tasks such as sorting mail, obtaining signatures, scanning tax forms, mailing documents, etc.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Finance Department
2-3 days/week in-office minimum required (serve as backup when peers are on PTO).
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail is a must. Ability to keep detailed, accurate, records and documentation.
Ability to organize data and prioritize multiple, competing priorities to maximize personal and team effectiveness
Helpful and positive attitude
Preferred experience in QuickBooks Pro Online and/or Great Plains
Proficiency in Excel is a must
Experience in Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint is desirable.
Preferred 5-7 years or more work experience in accounting (non-profit sector). Payroll and Accounts Payable experience is a plus.
Bachelor's degree, with an emphasis in accounting or finance is a must.

Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor
Completing all child abuse prevention training, as required
