Quality Senior Manager The Director of Quality in Personal Care Manufacturing plays a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of product quality and safety within the manufacturing process of personal care products. This position requires a strategic leader with strong technical expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and a dedication to regulatory compliance. The Director of Quality oversees all quality control processes, manages quality assurance initiatives, and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to uphold the company’s reputation for excellence in product quality. Direct Reports: QC and QA Team – QC Manager, QA Manager, Quality Systems Manager Job Responsibilities: Develops and manages the Quality Assurance and Quality Control teams to ensure production activities and new product development is supported as required. Continuously evaluate and drives quality improvement programs to enhance product quality, consistency, and efficiency. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor quality metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Stay abreast of industry regulations, standards, and guidelines related to personal care product manufacturing, ensuring compliance with FDA, EPA, and other regulatory bodies. Develop and implement robust quality assurance processes, including incoming materials inspection, in-process quality checks, and finished product testing. Collaborate with R&D and production teams to establish product specifications, standards, and testing protocols. Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, conducting supplier audits and evaluations to ensure adherence to quality standards. Implement supplier quality agreements and drive continuous improvement initiatives with key suppliers. Build and maintain customer relations to drive the understanding of requirements and production feasibility to ensure that the organization meets and/or exceeds the customer/compliance requirements and expectations for quality. Manage and resolve the customer complaints and concerns related to quality. Work closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, manufacturing, procurement, and logistics to resolve quality issues, mitigate risks, and drive product quality improvements. Provide leadership and guidance on quality-related matters, fostering a culture of quality excellence across the organization. Ensures Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and processes are developed and maintained to meet customer and regulatory requirements. Assists audit programs to ensure facility meets current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s) and customer requirements. Assists in compliance audits of company’s process manufacturing and component suppliers to determine compliance status and identify risks. Provide training and mentorship to quality assurance and quality control teams, ensuring a thorough understanding of quality standards, procedures, and best practices. Foster a culture of accountability, empowerment, and continuous learning within the quality organization.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related disciplines. Advanced degree preferred. Experience: Minimum of 7+ years of experience in quality management roles within the personal care or consumer goods manufacturing industry. PLUS Minimum 5+ years’ experience in regulatory affairs in an FDA regulated environment. Experience in cosmetics, and OTC products preferred. Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements for personal care products, including FDA regulations, GMP, and ISO standards. Proven track record of implementing and managing Quality Management Systems (QMS) in a manufacturing environment. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization. Experience leading regulatory audits and inspections, with a thorough understanding of audit processes and requirements. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving quality issues. Advanced PC Knowledge i.e. MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and management system is required. Certifications such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) are a plus.
