The Role

The Chief of Staff (CoS) for the SVP Enterprise Strategy and Transformation at Lumen is a strategic role to enable the execution of its transformation and to help deliver strategic initiatives through thought leadership, communication, and execution mindset. This role is stepping-stone into more senior roles at Lumen for strategic or P&L ownership roles.

Thought partnership to the Operations leadership team by providing KPIs that directly support the organization’s strategic mission and interpreting the data to help shape strategic initiatives. Since the CoS will also communicate and delegate initiatives to teams, will support senior leaders’ key decisions by ensuring plans are feasible and can be implemented accordingly throughout the rest of the organization. This individual will also help the SVP identify the areas where they must direct their focus and help streamline activities.

Communication to ensure strategic initiatives don’t become diluted the further they get from Operations leadership. It’s the strategic chief of staff’s responsibility to keep these initiatives on track by adequately communicating the plan and outcome to the entire organization.

Execution mindset to tackle varying types of responsibility and challenges depending on the constantly evolving of Lumen transformation journey and ensuring execution of its priorities. This can range from supporting Board document preparation to leading the execution of key strategic initiatives to ensure value capture.

In conclusion, this role is both strategic and critical to the systematic operating function of the Lumen Enterprise Operations Strategy and Transformation leadership team and will handle day-to-day activities to support the SVP to execute our business transformation.

The Main Responsibilities

+ Be a thought partner to the SVP and help him drive execution across his organization

+ Partner with various stakeholders to drive the execution of key strategic initiatives for the SVP

+ Define and execute direct and extended staff meeting and communications. This includes cadence of town halls, management meetings, and operation reviews to drive value capture.

+ Ensure Executive is thoroughly prepared for all external and large internal meetings; manage necessary prep calls, ensure prep information is consolidated into a digestible format, etc.

+ Partner with HR on people planning (work force planning, location strategy, org structure management, and people metrics)

+ Coordinate and manage organizational goals & objectives (including cross functional dependencies)

+ Partner cross functionally to improve the employee experience

+ Manage internal communications strategy (intra-org and on behalf of the org – partnering with the Communications team)

+ Prepare Executive and External presentations (e.g., Board meetings) through coordination with stakeholders

What We Look For in a Candidate

+ The ideal candidate will have 8-10 years of relevant experience and 3+ years’ experience at manager level

+ Bachelors or equivalent degree in technology related field

+ Proven track record of success in an operational role where executive priorities are translated into actionable plans that can be tracked.

+ Executive presence and excellent communication skills

+ Ability to navigate complex stakeholder management situations

+ Attention to detail across a broad range of contexts and topics

+ Advanced PowerPoint, Excel and Word skills

+ Experience with Business Operations and Planning and Business Transformation

Desired Qualifications

+ MBA or advanced relevant degree

+ 3+ years of experience with top tier management consulting firms

+ International experience working with telecom operators

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee’s primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$128310 – $171080 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.

$135060 – $180080 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.

$141820 – $189090 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.

$148570 – $198090 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.

As with the pay range variety that’s based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
