Job Description Summary
Under the general supervision of the Superintendent of Grounds, the Grounds Worker is responsible for maintaining the University's roads, walks and grounds insuring their overall safety, usability and aesthetic appeal.
Responsibilities
Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University's Mission and Catholic and Lasallian higher education.
-Perform a variety of seasonal tasks including, but not limited to: tree and flower planting, fertilizing, watering lawns, cutting grass, trimming hedges, raking leaves, shoveling snow, spreading salt and other grounds related duties as assigned.
-Garbage removal from completed Facilities projects to the University's trash receptacles.
-Moving of University furniture for various departments, events and gatherings.
-Functional support in the development of a preventative and corrective maintenance program for the University's roads, walks and grounds.
-General repair and operational care of tools and equipment which may exceed the preventative maintenance schedule.
-Set up and tear down of decorations, ornamentations, accents and other associated items for special events and activities.
-Reassignment to other areas of Facilities in accordance with departmental needs, as determined by the Superintendent of Grounds.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent credentials. Must posses a valid Illinois D class drivers license. Must have the ability to lift heavy objects on a routine basis, work outdoors in a variety of adverse weather conditions and work on a 24 hour, 7 day a week call system.
Preferred Qualifications
Possession of a valid Illinois CDL license. Working knowledge with the occupational hazards, safety practices, methods, codes, tools, materials and equipment used in grounds maintenance. Possession of a valid Illinois CDL drivers license.

Work hours
Full-time; this position may require overtime and may require second shift work if deemed necessary.
