The Director of Payroll will be responsible for the oversight of all aspects of the payroll system and payroll administration, as well as serving as the point of contact for the field locations concerning any payroll issues. Duties include but are not limited to managing the daily administration and maintenance, as well the payroll withholding accounts maintenance and reconciliation.

This position also ensures compliance with corporate policy and procedure. He/she will be responsible for overseeing the entering of weekly, bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll processing all locations and corporate entities. He/she will instruct and guide HR/gatekeepers in the field on a variety of payroll processing procedures and questions. This position involves access to confidential information.

Domicile at the Lombard HQ office is preferred.

Essential Job Functions:

+ Manages a team of ten employees including 2 supervisors.

+ Develops action plans and implements change for field locations by training them on the new processes.

+ Develops best practices and processes with continual improvement to ensure an efficient payroll process which pays all employees (30k) accurately and on-time.

+ Works closely with the field time and attendance administrators, HRIS Department, and the Regional Vice Presidents to ensure a smooth transition to improved processes at the field locations.

+ Leadership and Collaboration: Collaborate closely with department leaders to oversee daily operations. Your leadership will be crucial in maintaining efficiency and accuracy in payroll processing.

+ Payroll Processing Expertise: Manage payroll processing for various pay frequencies across multiple jurisdictions. Your expertise will ensure compliance and accuracy, mitigating risks associated with payroll errors.

+ Union Relations: Work closely with union representatives to ensure timely and accurate payment of union dues. Building strong relationships in this area will be essential for smooth operations.

+ Problem Resolution and Continuous Improvement: Own and resolve escalations, learning from customer feedback to drive improvements in processes and technology. Continuous improvement is key to maintaining high standards in payroll operations.

+ Relationship Building: Build strong relationships with operational management to improve the overall employee experience with payroll. Effective communication and collaboration will be vital in addressing any issues and driving success.

+ Compliance and Best Practices: Develop and maintain payroll control procedures and practices in line with industry standards such as the American Payroll Association (APA). Compliance with regulations and best practices will be paramount.

+ Technology Integration: Provide thought leadership with Business Technology team for accurate time and work rule management. Leveraging technology effectively will enhance efficiency and compliance in time capture processes.

+ Team Management and Development: Recruit, train, and lead a team of payroll professionals, both direct and indirect. Fostering a culture of continuous learning and development will ensure your team delivers top-notch payroll support.

+ Strategic Planning: Contribute to the strategic direction for existing acquisitions and future startups. Your insights will be valuable in aligning payroll operations with overall business goals and growth plans.

Qualifications:

+ Bachelors Degree in a financial area required, Masters Degree preferred.

+ 5+ years experience in a senior financial/payroll/management position.

+ 3+ years experience with ADP payroll processing software and reporting systems. ADP ETime experience preferred.

CPP Preferred (Certified Payroll Professional)

+ Ability to understand sound fiscal financial principles

+ Ability to analyze a variety of complex problems to make sound recommendations and action plans for their solutions.

+ Ability to work with confidential information is essential

+ Act as a change agent within the organization.

+ Technical expertise in payroll regulations (FLSA) and standards

+ Expert proficiency in payroll software, Excel, and HRIS tools

+ Understand full payment cycle through to GL bookings and ability to provide commentary on payroll accounts

+ Manage and facilitate change effectively among team and partners (HR, HRIS, Tax, Operations)

+ Ability to multi task in a fast paced environment to adhere to strict deadlines
