Job Title: Senior Principal Architect

Job Description

We are seeking a Principal Architect to join our team. You will be reporting directly to the Director, providing updates on projects and teams, and ensuring that our projects are on track and within budget. You may be required to assist with the completion of project documents and will be actively involved in business development, including proposal writing, fee development, and interviewing for new project opportunities. You will also be responsible for managing and coordinating the work of outside design consultants in accordance with the contractual scope of services, holding meetings with project teams, and creating project schedules to identify critical project milestones and significant interim deadlines. This role requires traveling to site visits and client meetings when needed.

Responsibilities:

+ Will be reporting to Director to communicate updates on projects and teams

+ Working with Project Architects and Project Managers to ensure projects are on track, budget and provide direction if needed

+ Will assist with completion of project documents if needed

+ Work with marketing, design, and production meetings to develop project proposals

+ Track and manage the financial performance of projects and coordinate and adjust work effort to work within project work plan parameters

+ Support and actively engage in business development including proposal writing, fee development, and interviewing for new project opportunities

+ Help manage and coordinate the work of outside design consultants in accordance with the contractual scope of services

+ Hold meetings with project teams to get updates on projects

+ Work with client and project teams to create project schedules to identify critical project milestones and significant interim deadlines.

+ May participate in reviews with various authorities having jurisdiction for code compliance, general reviews, and approvals.

+ Work with the Regional Controller, Project Managers, Director and Managing Principal to regularly review project performance.

+ Work with PM’s to develop work plans to adequately staff work to achieve project milestones and budgets

+ Proactively manage the financial parameters of HDR’s work with clients

+ Will be traveling to site visits and client meetings when needed

Required Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or closely related field is required

+ 15 or more years of professional experience

+ Project experience within the justice sector is required

+ Previous experience with financial cost, budgeting and analysis is required

+ Ability to complete full set of construction documents with no supervision

+ Ability to travel to site visits and client meetings when needed

+ Strong knowledge of building codes and compliance

+ Licensure is required

+ Has a “seller-doer” mentality

+ Proficiency in Revit (BIM) is required

+ Must be local- this is an in office role
